CANCUN ISLAND NIGHTLIFE
Every night is a world-class party night in Cancun! Even though many Mexican resort towns feature great night life, you'll have a tough time finding a town anywhere that can keep up with the evening pace of Cancun! Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo come close, but Cancun has it all. Cancun's nightlife includes shopping, restaurants, dance clubs, stage shows, concerts and more. In addition, many hotels also have their own form of evening entertainment such as bars or cocktail lounges. But getting out and looking for new places to explore is half the fun of the evening scene in Cancun. Getting around Cancun at night is easy. Many hotels are within walking distance to the action, and those that are not are just a 5 to 10 minute cab ride away. There's really no need to take your own rental car, which helps eliminate the drinking and driving issue. And you are usually never more than a few minutes from getting back to your hotel room. Much of the nightlife action in Cancun is at the northern end of the island. And although there is no official central location for evening activities, the area near the Convention Center near the northeast corner of the island is highly populated with shop, restaurants, bars and entertainment options. This is a good place to start if you don't have a predetermined destination. Although Cancun Island offers all of the nightlife one could ever need, downtown Cancun is just a few miles from the Hotel Zone and offers a whole separate nightlife experience. Fun restaurants and crazy bars dot the downtown area, most within walking distance from each other. Some Cancun visitors spend an entire evening just hopping around downtown Cancun. And its just a 10 minute cab ride back to the island. Carlos Fiesta spent a week here one night! Want to enjoy an evening at the CANCUN THEATER? You can e-mail them to see what's on stage while you are in town at elteatrodecancun@yahoo.com.mx or call them at 011-52 (998) 849-5580. Tickets usually run under $30. Spring Break hits Cancun with a vengeance for about 3 weeks each year and has become a party venue that matches the excitement of Palm Springs California and the beaches of Fort Lauderdale Florida, or Padre Island Texas. As college kids get out of school for a week in different locations throughout the U.S. they pack their bags and head for the pools, beaches and bars of Cancun. From wet T-shirt contests to Jell-O vodka belly shooters, the action goes into the wee hours every night. Parents...be afraid. Very afraid. A word of caution! The drinking age in Mexico is 18, so you may run into a few 'inexperienced' party-goers. Let's face it...drinking is a talent and experience helps. College kids taking their first run at alcohol often have a tough time learning where to draw the line. Remember, going to jail for getting crazy in Mexico is not the same as back home. Besides, if you party too late, you'll have a tough time getting up to hang by the pool in the morning! For more evening options in Cancun drop by the RESTAURANTS and SHOPPING sections of Cancun Expo. Cancun nightlife starts early and goes on late. A common plan is to head back up to the room to primp and prep after a fun day at the beach or pool and then head out for dinner. Evenings sometimes include a cocktail and an appetizer before dinner, a great meal (and desert!), followed by window shopping at the local stores. At this point you have a decision to make...to go back to the hotel for a brief intermission...or to take on the evening with no break. The serious nightclubs often don't get going until after 11:00 p.m. and many of the non-party people in the group will have gone back to the hotel by then to watch TV and go to sleep. Whatever. If you are still itching to drink and dance the evening awaits you!
