CANCUN GOLF
Golf is a great way to enjoy the outdoors of Cancun! There are currently two great golf courses on Cancun Island, two courses south of town, and two short executive courses at hotels on the island. More golf courses are on the way! Like to explore? Consider golf your excuse to see some of the sights south of Cancun. There are two awesome courses on the road south of Cancun, each offing something special. Having a nice lunch after a good game of golf will add to the half day expedition away from the crowds in Cancun. Playacar Golf Resort is the closest resort as you head south along the jungle on Highway 207. The greens are very well kept up, the golf is challenging and the scenery is awesome! Call early for a preferred T-time. Puerto Aventuras is a bit further south but well worth the 35 minute drive. The golf course is part of a master planned community which includes a marina, oceanfront condos, restaurants and much more. Because it is a bit further south that Playacar, Puerto Aventuras usually doesn't get as crowded. Golfing in the Cancun area means getting your skin exposed to the ultraviolet rays of the tropical sun. Trying to be macho will probably get you burned, and don't think a cap will cover all of your exposed body parts. Getting into a good SUNSCREEN ROUTINE is a smart idea for all outdoor activities in Cancun. Because it is located in the tropics, it can get hot (and humid) on Cancun's golf courses by mid-day. If you can't handle the heat think about setting up your game either early in the morning or later in the afternoon. From June through October the Yucatan Peninsula is subject to late afternoon cloud build up and possible rain showers. Unless there is a storm offshore these periods of rain are usually brief and often clear up before sunset. The rain is usually refreshing and most duffers play right on through!
