CARLOS FIESTA'S BIG ADVENTURE
Did you ever get a really crazy idea and decide it just doesn't make sense to pull it off...but then you did it anyway? If so, then you might understand why Carlos Fiesta bought a 19 foot panga with an old small motor and decided to boat over 2,300 miles from Los Angeles, around Cabo San Lucas, and up the Sea of Cortez into the Colorado River. Solo. And yes, he lived to tell about it.
When Carlos ran the idea past friends and family to see if they thought it would be a good idea, there were more than a few skeptics willing to tell him that he would never make it. Just the kind of encouragement it takes to motivate someone as adventurous as Carlos.
So on September 11th, 2001 he left his home in Southern California and purchased a used fishing panga with a 40 horsepower motor. The rest, as they say, is history.
Carlos is writing a book about his adventure and the draft is available on-line for arm-chair adventurers to follow along. We have included a link to those pages below. It's quite a story!
